Code of conduct
We run, swim and celebrate together — and we want everyone at our events and on our site to feel welcome and safe. This code applies to participants, volunteers, the team, partners and visitors: at events, on fundraiser pages and in messages.
The basic rule
Treat people with respect. Everyone is welcome — regardless of gender, age, origin, language, religion, disability, appearance, sexual orientation or fitness. Our events are for casual joggers, competitors and people who came to cheer — nobody gets mocked for being slow, in the water for the first time, or dressed as Santa.
Harassment is not tolerated
By harassment we mean, among other things:
- insults, humiliation and threats — in person or online;
- unwanted comments about someone's body, unwanted touching, or pushiness;
- discriminatory outbursts on any grounds;
- photographing or filming someone who has explicitly refused;
- persistent interrupting, following, or pressuring after a clear "no".
The same applies online
Fundraiser pages, donation messages and comments are part of the same space. We remove messages that insult, mislead or harass, and suspend accounts that keep doing it — as described in the Terms of use.
Alcohol
Some of our events, like the festive pub crawl, involve alcohol. The rules are clear:
- alcohol for adults only — organisers and venues check age;
- nobody gets talked into drinking; a non-alcoholic option always exists and is treated as equal;
- we will not keep serving someone visibly drunk, and we may ask them to leave the event;
- do not drive after drinking — we will help you find a ride;
- at sporting events (runs, swims, regattas) alcohol before and during participation is not allowed.
Children
For everything involving children, our child safeguarding policy applies: no one-on-one contact, photography only with parental consent, concerns reported to the event's safeguarding lead.
Safety first
Follow the instructions of organisers, marshals and lifeguards. Stay on the marked course and do not enter the water outside the designated zones and times. If you see someone in trouble, tell the nearest team member.
How to report a problem
At an event, speak to any identified team member or the event lead. In writing: [[PLACEHOLDER: contact email]]. Every report is treated confidentially; if someone is in immediate danger, call emergency services first.
Consequences
Depending on severity and repetition: a warning, removal from the event without a refund of the entry fee, removal of content, account suspension, or a ban from future events. Where a violation suggests a criminal offence, we notify the police.
